Street Cleaning Regulations

NYC's Street Cleaning Regulations support the Department of Sanitation's efforts to clean the city's thousands of miles of streets. A typical street cleaning regulation, as expressed on an "Alternate Side Parking Sign," will state that no parking is to take place in a particular area (usually one side of the street) for a 1.5 hour period once or twice per week. During this period all cars must make way for the automated mechanical street sweeper or face a $50 summons.
